Guest House with lovely views of Ben Nevis near Fort William
The area of Fort William and Lochaber is not only famous for Ben Nevis and magnificent scenery but now also as the Outdoor Capital and of course for the 'Harry Potter' train. See more on our site www.magicscotland.com.
A short walk away from Culacrick is Neptune's Staircase, a staircase lock comprising eight locks on the Caledonian Canal. Built by Thomas Telford between 1803 and 1822, it is the longest staircase lock in Britain.
Overlooking the canal is the Moorings Restaurant, Bistro and Bar and a slightly longer stroll will take you to the the Lochy Bar that is a popular with our guests for the range and value of meals available.
A walking and cycle track runs alongside the Caledonian Canal and again this is a short distance from Culacrick. This track also runs towards Fort William passing close to the River Lochy and Old Inverlochy Castle. On this route it is possible to take the dedicated cycle track to Nevis Range where Britain's only mountain gondola transports you up the slopes of Aonach Mor.
Taking the service train at nearby Banavie Station will take you to Glenfinnan, Arisaig, Morar and ultimately Mallaig. Our guests have found this an ideal way to explore these picturesque locations, returning on a later train. Of course the Jacobite Steam Train also runs on this line from Fort William and an ideal photo opportunity is presented as it crossed the canal below Neptunes Staircase.
There are so many day trips and places to visit, here are some suggestions:
